The end is near. The Cheltenham Festival draws to a close on Friday and whether you’ve backed winners galore or ended up a loser, enjoy it. And what a day we have in prospect. Seven races brimming with quality – let’s get stuck in. Here’s a Lucky 15 that should float a few boats.
CUE CARD – Cheltenham 3.30
The big one. The money has been piling on Djakadam but surely it’s misplaced. Willie Mullins’ charge has been beat twice in this race and there’s no form in the book to suggest a big turnaround. This could be Cue Card’s year. He is underrated around Cheltenham and saves his best for the big day. Native River will set it up for him and Cue Card will pounce late.
DEATH DUTY – 2.50 Cheltenham
This apparently is Gordon Elliott’s best chance of the week, which is a tip in itself. He’s had a gremlin found few days and this could be the best horse in his yard. The way he stayed on last time out suggested as much. Get on. The nap of the day.
ON THE FRINGE – 4.10 Cheltenham
Sometimes it’s easy just to uncomplicate things. Racing can be over analysed sometimes. This lad is a master around this course and distance. He wins this. Yet again.
DANDRIDGE – 5.30 Cheltenham
This lad is rock solid in this race. He’s only 4lbs higher than last season when he finished a good second. His whole season has been geared around this race and everything looks set for a huge run. This could top off the Lucky 15 with a tasty big price winner.
